Circle calculator

Enter any one measurement — diameter, radius, circumference, or area — and we'll solve for the rest. Handy as a pool circumference calculator for coping and cove.

Circle formulas

Circumference = π × diameter (equivalently 2 × π × radius), and area = π × radius². Radius is always half the diameter, so whichever value you enter, we solve for radius first and then plug it into the other two formulas — using π ≈ 3.14159 — to fill in everything else.

These three formulas are exact for any circle, so entering just one measurement is enough to derive the rest — there's no rule of thumb or waste factor involved, unlike most material calculators on this site. That makes it useful beyond geometry homework: pool builders use circumference to order coping or cove material, and the same math works whether you're measuring a round pool, a tree trunk, or a circular garden bed.

Frequently asked questions

Select "Diameter" above, enter the distance straight across your pool, and the circumference (useful for ordering pool coping or cove) appears as the primary result.

Select "Circumference" above and enter the measured distance around the circle — diameter, radius, and area are calculated automatically.
